Technology

Pikeville Medical Center's Heart Institute features some of the most advanced treatment technologies available anywhere.

4D Echocardiograms

Pikeville Medical Center has invested in the absolute state-of-the-art imaging technology that our cardiologists use to save the lives of your neighbors and loved ones. Currently, there is no other imaging available anywhere in the U.S. more advanced than what you will find at Pikeville Medical Center. Being the first to introduce 4-D cardiac imaging to the state of Kentucky, PMC is committed to quality patient care.

The Heart Institute's 4-Dimensional echocardiogram machines allow our physicians to see a virtual reproduction of your heart, from any angle, in color and in real time.  PMC's investment in 4-D cardiac technology allows the patient to better understand what they are seeing; by giving them a clear image of their heart.

Spy system

The SPY Intra-Operative Imaging System allows surgeons to…

  • confirm the proper placements of a by-pass graft
  • visually assess the quality and placement of the graft
  • offer a higher level of patient safety
  • better guarantee graft success

The SPY Intra-operative Imaging System is the new, innovative technology that helps our heart surgeons confirm successful by-pass surgeries. With the use of SPY technology, a patient undergoing surgery will no longer have to worry about future complications due to surgery.

Pikeville Medical Center was the first cardiac surgery department in Kentucky with the SPY system; offering the very best to their patients.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators

With cardiac arrest causing the deaths of thousands of Americans each year, the cardiothoracic surgeons at Pikeville Medical Center now offer ICDs (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators) to patients who may be at a higher risk for a terminal arrhythmia.
