PMC Home Health

Misson: To provide quality home care services in a Christian environment Pikeville Medical Center's Home Health Agency provides an alternative to extended hospitalization or nursing home care. Allowing the patient to remain in their home.

Pikeville Medical Center opened a home health agency in 2002. PMC Home Health is licensed to serve Pike, Floyd, and Letcher, Counties.

PMC Home Health contains a staff that brings many years of experience to the area. The home health care team, which includes Licensed nurses, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Certified Nurse Aides, Speech Therapist, Office Staff for Billing, Admission information, Filing of Medical records, Data entry and Social Worker.

Each individual is a vital player in the home health and Home community based wavier program.

Criteria for Home Health:

 

  1. Must need skilled services:
       a: skilled nursing
       b: physical therapy
       c: speech-language pathology
       d: continuing need for occupational therapy Must be under the
           care of a physician Must be homebound - Medicare Skilled
           Services Provided by PMC Home Health
  2. Must be under the care of a physician
  3. Must be homebound - Medicare

Skilled Services

Nursing:

  • Skilled Observation, Assessment, Teaching and Treatment
  • Patient Teaching (medication, disease process, etc.)
  • Foley Catheter (insertion, changes and maintenance)
  • Wound Care
  • Insulin Injections and Teaching
    (self-administration and self-management of medication regimen)

  • Infusion Therapy

Physical Therapy

  • Assessment
  • Therapeutic Exercise
  • Gait Training
  • Range of Motion
  • Patient and Caregiver Training
  • Functional Mobility

Speech-Language Pathology:

  • Assessment (rehabilitation needs and potential)
  • Teaching/Training (patients and family)
       --Voice Disorders
       --Aphasia Rehabilitation
  • Augment Speech-Language Communication

Occupational Therapy
