PIKEVILLE — Area youngsters will have the opportunity to learn basketball the University of Pikeville way during summer camps.
The first session will be held June 11-13 and the second June 14-15 for those ages 5-14.
Coach Kelly Wells will give campers the opportunity to be exposed to the essential skills needed for their development as players as well as ways to improve those skills.
“Our camp will be demanding, we try to combine hard work and learning with a lot of fun,” Wells said.
Through stations, half-court games, lectures and competition, campers will find UPIKE’s way the “best for their development.”
Each day camp will begin with a group meeting and an organized warm-up period. There will be individual and small group instruction, daily lectures by staff, station instruction, individual contests, 3-on-3 development, plus team play.
Tuition is $75 per camper and includes camp T-shirt, certificate of participation, UPIKE camp basketball, great instruction and many awards and give-aways.
A $50 non-refundable desposit must accompany your application. The remaining balance will be due at registration.
Discounts for groups and multi-family members will be offered.
Campers are encouraged to report the morning of camp and register from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m.
Campers should be dressed and ready to workout with tennis shoes, shorts, T-shirts and socks.

Meanwhile, the UPIKE team basketball camp will be held June 18-21.
Games will be played at the UPIKE gym, Pikeville High School, Pike Central High School, Mullins Elementary and the Blue Goose.
Games will start around 10 a.m. and run until 10 p.m. each day.
Each team should be guaranteed eight games each (two per day and tournament on Thursday).
The cost will be $400 for varsity and junior varsity. A third team may participate for $200.
