Misty Daniels
PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The name Misty Daniels is familiar to many in this region because of her extensive work in the local arts scene. In the last two decades, Daniels has appeared in nearly 40 productions at Jenny Wiley Theatre, including leading roles in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “My Fair Lady.” She is also a frequent performer at the Mountain Arts Center, where she appears with the Kentucky Opry, the center’s music variety show.

Beginning this year, Daniels has a new role that will allow her to continue her work as an ambassador of the east Kentucky region – a Pikeville Medical Center physician recruiter. PMC CEO Joann Anderson welcomed Daniels to the hospital.

“I am so pleased to have Misty join our team. She brings a tremendous energy to our recruitment efforts, a dedication to our community and a desire to accomplish big things,” Anderson said. “I know that she will do a great job for our facility and, in turn, for our community.”

In her new job, Daniels will be meeting with physicians from far and near who are interested in working at PMC and, in some cases, she will be giving them their first glimpse of eastern Kentucky.

Daniels’ showbiz career has often taken her to places such as New York, Nashville, Philadelphia and Florida, and during her travels she has always considered herself a proud ambassador of the region.

“It is surprising how often I have encountered well-educated and well-traveled people who embrace false stereotypes about those from Appalachia,” Daniels recalled. “I always welcome the opportunity to educate them about just how wonderful our mountain culture is.”

Daniels said she is particularly interested in identifying those physicians with ties to the area who have left this region and might want to return.

“These physicians may be completing training elsewhere and are interested in returning here once their training is complete, or they may be already practicing medicine and simply would like to continue their work back home,” she said. “If you know of someone who fits that profile, please contact me at the PMC Physician Recruitment office at 606-218- 4915.”
