A History of Volunteering

Pikeville Medical Center has a history rich in volunteerism. In 1980 a hospotal auxiliary was formed. With the help of approximately 10 auxiliarians, a gift shop was established. In 1990, the Volunteer Program oriented 20 volunteers. In the last 17 years we've come a long way. Today, there are over 100 volunteers who dedicate more than 16,000 hours of service annually, allowing PMC to continue providing the quality health care our community has come to expect. Our volunteers' commitment and caring for the community is what makes our program so successful year after year.
